Food Facility: Order take-out food in a restaurant
Marti Guixé and Mediamatic invite you to FOOD FACILITY, conTEMPORARY eatery for those dining in restaurant comfort with living room mentality. Based on digital search engines Food Facility is symptomatic of the change in analogue thinking and acting after the emergence of internet.

We do fun stuff at work in our Groundflood exposition space. For instance, we did the Flickr Peepshow there. Now it’s time to turn it into a restaurant. Of course we’re not about to employ a full staff of waiters, cooks, hosts, etc. So we’ll just skip all that and order take-out food for the customers instead. The image above is a sketch of how it’ll work.
I think it’s brilliant.
Dear Cyberhq
MPD Export - conceptual artists & designers - came up with the concept for No Kitchen United in 1998: it is a restaurant without a kitchen. Instead, food can be ordered from selected (or all) delivery restaurants in the vicinity of the restaurant location. The concept is 100% identical to the concept of Food Facility.
Brands can be registered, concepts can’t - consider the fast food restaurants McDonalds, White Castle (first), Wendy’s and Burger King - same concept, different brands.
We carried out the performance a number of times between 1998 and 2003, in cultural settings as well for businesses in The Netherlands. And we still have the project in our portfolio as a tool in our art business. We cater for 15 to 150 people at the same time, and allways with extremely enthousiastic comments and results.
As to comment on Guixe’s testing of his prototype, we can prove the concept works - we expect nothing more then succesful evenings at Post CS.
Kind regards,
Esther Plomp & Pieter van der Werf - MPD Export - conceptual artists
